Anniversary Volume: The Strathmore Law Review (SLR) turns 5!

Legal scholars can seldom engineer social transformation if there are no forums existing to refine and host their ideas on a consistent basis. One such forum is law journals. However, in Africa, many law journals have been inconsistent in refining and hosting transformative ideas on an annual basis. It is in celebration of 5 years of consistency in promoting African legal scholarship that the SLR is now accepting legal submissions for her 5th Anniversary Volume, Volume 5, Issue 1, under the themeProviding legal solutions to Africa’s problems: Unlocking the potential of African legal scholarship.

The call for submissions will close on the Midnight of Tuesday 22nd August 2019. Submissions should be emailed to

Why publish with the SLR?

  • It is the only consistent high-level student law review in Kenya presently.
  • It aims to promote the growth of quality African legal literature, evidence from past themes and previous authors.
  • Focus is given to the quality of the paper and not the academic credentials of the author. In fact, the SLR prides itself in its quality assurance measures such as creation of a marking rubric to ensure uniformity of mark allocation and blind review editing which curtails any biases that the editors may have.
  • Quality feedback is provided on the authors’ papers irrespective of whether or not their papers are selected for publication so as to help the authors improve on their skills.
